We have the opportunity to provide warmth and light for thousands of vulnerable people in de-occupied areas in the east of Ukraine. Cities like Kharkiv and Izyum where Russian troops have pulled out, communities have been flattened and people have been left homeless and traumatised.
This is an urgent opportunity for you to show your support to courageous church leaders who have chosen to stay and serve in places like this, like Pastor Slavic;
"We are at the beginning of winter where the temperatures will plummet to -20'c. Frequent blackouts means people's boilers don't work. We get light for 1-2 hours a day. Houses are damp and never get warm. Many people living here do not have winter clothes. Their homes have no heating either so life is very hard and difficult.
Our church has opened a warm hub where people can come together to keep warm during the day. We are also distributing sleeping bags, hot-water bottles and firewood to people in desperate need. Please help us to do this and to stay alive during this harsh winter.”
Your support this Christmas will make such a big difference;
A generous gift of £89 can provide a sleeping bag and hot water bottle for one person this Christmas
A special gift of £367 can help to provide firewood, sleeping bags, and hot water bottles to a whole family in desperate need.
A significant gift of £1,452 can buy a large tent and heaters to ensure that churches like Pastor Slavic’s are able to open a warm hub to benefit their community. These will give people the opportunity to receive hot food, to connect online with friends and family, and to register their own desperate needs with people who care.
Through gifts like these, you can help grandmothers like Natasha, who is being cared for by Pastor Slavic's church. Natasha and her two grandchildren are barely surviving;
“We are living as we can. Our house is not insulated, and it is very cold, especially at night. We do not have electricity and my grandchildren have to wash in cold water. They are wearing their hats and coats all day long, and they sit under blankets to stay warm inside the house.”
Will you rescue a grandmother like Natasha and her grandchildren from the cold?
